Neil and Nicola recently wrote a blog about the Papworth Everard social club. Now, I want to tell you more.
I see everyone at the Huntingdon Centre but not outside. It's hard to do that, when everyone goes home.
When this club started it was a way to bring everybody together outside the centres. When you come back home, that's it, there's nothing to do. You feel low, especially in the winter.
The social club gets you out of your home with different members of the community coming together. We do a lot of things like quizzes and take away nights. Next month we are going to do a bring and buy sale. I'm helping out with the club, I make the posters.
It makes me feel happy that I'm getting out. I do go out a lot but not in the evening. All right it's just once a month but it gets everyone together.
We are thinking of more ideas for things to do like the bring and buy sale and a music night. We always have a cup of tea or coffee and a good chat. We'd like more people to join us, which is why I'm writing this blog.
We are also looking for a volunteer to help us with the social club. We'd love to hear from you if you can spare a couple of hours once a month. Your help will mean more people can enjoy the club. The next social club is on Thursday 6 September from 6pm to 8pm at the Turnhill Room, Southbrook Field, Papworth Everard.
If you would like to come along please email Get.Involved@papworth.org.uk, phone 01480 357225 or just turn up on the night.
