Papworth Trust has a lot of experts out there, the experts at Papworth Trust are the people who use our services and it is really important that the organisation can hear what those people think and be influenced by them.
One of the newest and most exciting ways for this to happen is the Papworth Trust Forum. This is a chance for representatives of Papworth Trust user groups to come together and share what their groups are up to and how they are influencing their part of the organisation.
On Thursday 15 September we held the second Papworth Trust Forum and 12 group reps came along to have their say. There was a lively discussion about government policy where reps asked questions about changes to Disability Living Allowance. Rob Hammond, one of Papworth Trust's trustees, joined the group to tell everyone what Trustees do and offer support to the Forum. We talked about how we can promote the Forum and came up with lots of ideas, so you'll be hearing more about the Forum soon! David Martin, Director of Strategy and Marketing, shared what Papworth Trust is planning to do in the future and it was great to hear how much people value being involved.
Reps shared posters about their groups - we heard about:
It is brilliant to hear that there is so much great involvement going on around Papworth Trust! There are some challenges - some reps had received good support from staff to prepare information for the Forum and others hadn't had such good support so we need to work on this.
One of the most important things talked about were elections for Trustee User Representatives. This is an opportunity for people who use Papworth Trust services to represent others and influence the organisation at the Trustee Board level. Our current Trustee User Reps do a fantastic job of this - thank you to Ronnie, Phil and Martin. If you would like to nominate yourself to be a Trustee User Rep, vote in the election or find out more please see here.
Finally, a big thank you to our guest speakers: Nicola, Rob and David and to Revonnia, Julia, James and Adela who gave their time to the Forum and helped to make it a successful event.
You can see photos from the Forum on Facebook.
The next User Forum will be on Thursday 3 November.
