The Chutes and Ladders board game
Accessibility expert Papworth Trust has created a board game Chutes and Ladders to highlight issues involved in building inclusive communities.
Papworth Trust, winners of the Housing Corporation's Gold Award 2008 for Building Cohesive Communities, designed the game based on the principle of snakes and ladders.
The game highlights some of the issues encountered in building communities that include everyone. It explores some of the issues faced during the various stages of planning, building and completion of a community.
Paul McCay, Director of Operations, says: ?The board game is fun, interesting and the players can learn about the challenges faced when developing an inclusive community. We hope that other housing professionals will use this game for training purposes."
Papworth Trust has also produced a DVD about its award winning Foundations for Living project in Cambridgeshire which includes case studies about Bruce Wall whose life has transformed after becoming a wheelchair user following a motorbike crash, and Kevin Garley and Annaliese White who have finally had the chance to live like any other couple in the community.
Papworth Trust?s experience shows that well designed homes really do make the difference to living independently in the community.
