Papworth Trust Home Solutions

Papworth Trust Home Solutions provide practical housing advice and support for anyone who is disabled, has a learning difficulty, is older or on a low income.

You can get expert assistance - from telephone support to full case management service - at our offices in Corby, Bishops Stortford and Harlow.

Our range of services span:

• advice on adaptation or re-location options
• advice on specialist equipment
• clarification of housing issues and needs
• project tendering and management on client's behalf
• Core Home Improvement Agency services within East Herts and Harlow assisting with provision of Disabled Facilities Grants, Decent Home Grants and Local Authority Loans
• dispersed alarm scheme

• hospital prevention and release service
• gardening scheme.

We work both with home owners and with people who are in rented accommodation.

Typically, Papworth Trust Home Solutions is most suited to people with disabled children, disabled adults wanting to live on their own, people who have acquired a disability, older people and people needing adaptations after leaving hospital.

Some of our services

Handyperson service
Home Solutions offers a dedicated handyperson service for small jobs and repairs in the home.

The service covers small repairs such as fixing leaking taps, putting up curtain poles, assembling flat pack furniture, replacing glass, as well as door and lock problems.

A charge is agreed before any work is carried out and we aim to complete work within 3 weeks. The service is sponsored in the different locality areas by Essex County Council, East Herts Council, Harlow District Council, Hertfordshire County Council Adult Care Services and and supported by Age Concern.

Energy advice
Care for Energy, a partnership between PTHS and East Hertfordshire District Council, provides free domestic energy advice for everyone. The scheme offers a free domestic energy survey to help people keep warmer and save money. Working very closely with East Herts Environmental Health Department, PTHS advises clients on the energy grants available to them, helping with paperwork if required.
