On 24 May, the third Papworth Trust Charity Fishing Match took place. As with last year, there was great support from the Cambridge Fish Preservation and Angling Society who kindly donated the Barnwell Lake in Cambridge. This event has grown over the past years and this year was a 'full house' with a total of 20 fishermen taking part.

The weather was ideal for sunbathing, if a little too hot for the fish who seemed rather reluctant to be caught. But everyone had an enjoyable days fishing in wonderful surroundings.

Prizes were awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd for the total weights caught. The winners were:

1st Prize: Liam Darler
2nd Prize: Chris Whitehall
3rd Prize: Ian Asplen

After the prize giving a raffle was drawn with some amazing prizes - all of which had been kindly donated. Special thanks go to those who donated prizes:

  • Zebco - Germany
  • Alan Giddens
  • Willow Grange
  • Andy Barker
  • Ian & Liam Darler
  • Hooked Tackle and Bait
  • Bill Scott, John Salisbury
  • Chris Whitehall
  • and John Barker

And finally, thank you to the Country Store at Pampisford who donated 20 'goody bags' filled with fishing goodies for each fisherman.
